LINE Technology Vietnam’s Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy for Recruitment (“Privacy Policy”) explains how LINE Technology Vietnam Company Limited (“LINE Technology Vietnam”), “we”, “us”, or “our”, will collect and handle the information you provide us (“Personal Data”) when you submit through Recruitment section of our website. Please note that your use of other services we offer is governed by separate terms and/or privacy policy.
Your application for a position and submission of Personal Data indicates your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and your consent to the collection, storage, processing, use and transfer of your Personal Data by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. What types of Personal Data are processed?
Firstly, this Privacy Policy covers the information you submit to us when you apply for a position via our website. Personal Data includes without limitation to:
- Mandatory information: Name, date of birth, gender, nationality, address, telephone number, email address, or other contact information; Resume or CV, cover letter, previous work experience, educational background, transcripts, job preferences & expectations.
- Optional information: Names and contact information for referrals; Please note, however, that it is your responsibility to obtain consent from references before providing their personal information to us.
- Sensitive information (e.g., race, ethnic origin, or information concerning health conditions in medical records) if you choose to submit it as part of your Personal Data.
Secondly, during the process of using services or conducting business operations, the following information may be automatically generated and collected:
- Information such as the type of browser and operating system used by the data subject, browsing history (IP address, access time), and cookies.
- Additionally, during the reception and response process for job applications and partnership proposals, contact information such as email addresses and phone numbers (both mobile and landline) may be collected as identification information based on the method of contact.
LINE Technology Vietnam collects personal information through user input on the website, via email, and in some cases, information may also be collected in the form of printed documents. For the avoidance of doubt, we wish not to receive any confidential, proprietary, or patented information which you have received from your previous employers.
2. How will your Personal Data be processed?
Recruitment Purposes:LINE Technology Vietnam will use applicants' Personal Data for the following purposes:
- To assess your skills, qualifications, and interests against our career opportunities;
- To verify your information and conduct reference checks or background checks;
- To communicate with you and inform you of career opportunities
- To prepare for interview or screening discussion; or
- To improve our recruitment process.
In our recruitment and selection process, we may use AI, including generative AI, to enhance efficiency and support analysis. Please note, however, that AI is never used to determine the final outcome of a candidate's application.
Onboarding Purposes:In the case that an applicant joins LINE Technology Vietnam, we will use such applicant's Personal Data for the following purposes:
- Conducting purposes necessary for human resources/labor management
3. Who may access your Personal Data?
LINE Technology Vietnam uses Personal Data strictly within the scope specified in Article 1 of this Privacy Policy and does not exceed this scope or generally disclose Personal Data of applicants to external parties without prior consent. However, exceptions apply in the following cases:
- When the applicant has given separate consent.
- When required by laws; or upon request of a competent authority in case of emergency regarding national defence, security, social order and safety, major disasters, dangerous epidemics; when there is a threat to national security and defence but not to the extent of declaring a state of emergency; preventing and combating riots, terrorism, preventing and combating crimes and violations of the laws as prescribed by laws.
In case of emergency, it is necessary to immediately process relevant personal data to protect life or health of the applicant or other persons. Within these principles, only authorized employees have access to your Personal Data. This includes hiring managers (such as recruiters and HR team members) at LINE Technology Vietnam, as well as companies with a special relationship with LINE Technology Vietnam (subsidiaries, affiliated companies, overseas corporations, etc.) in order to provide recruitment process to job applicants.
Additionally, we may disclose your Personal Data as part of a contemplated or actual corporate transaction such as a reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer, or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets, or stock (including in connection with bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
4. Overseas Transfer of Personal Data
We may securely disclose and transfer Personal Data as described in Article 1 of this Privacy Policy to our parent company, details as below:

In addition, we may provide Personal Data to professional advisors for purposes such as identifying potential candidates, reviewing applications, and assessing applicant suitability for relevant roles.
Finally, such Personal Data may be stored and processed on cloud-based systems, including systems located overseas, for recruitment and related administrative purposes.
We are the administrator in sharing Personal Data under the laws of Vietnam.
5. How long is your Personal Data retained?
Application Information is retained if we are required to do so under applicable laws or for a period of 5 years from the date of receiving Personal Data, and if recruitment is needed, it is used for ongoing recruitment from LINE Technology Vietnam’s talent pool.
If a request for the deletion of Personal Data is made by a job applicant, the information in question will be promptly deleted in accordance with laws. The retention period may be extended with your consent or in accordance with applicable laws.
6. How is your Personal Data deleted?
The Personal Data of data subjects is generally deleted without delay once the purpose of processing Personal Data has been achieved. LINE Technology Vietnam's Personal Data deletion procedure and method are as follows:
6.1. Deletion Procedure
- Information provided by data subjects is transferred to a separate database (or separate document storage if using paper) after the purpose has been achieved and is retained for a certain period as required by internal policies and relevant laws and regulations (refer to Article 2 and Article 4 of this Policy). It is then deleted.
- This Personal Data will not be used for any purpose other than the purpose as describe in this Privacy Policy unless required by law.
6.2 Deletion Method
- Personal Data printed on paper (if any) is shredded.
- Personal Data stored in electronic file format is permanently deleted using technical methods that make the data irrecoverable.
- In cases where the above methods are technically difficult, the information is anonymized to ensure that it cannot be recovered.
7. My choice, my rights & obligations
Submitting your Personal Data is voluntary. You can choose what types of Personal Data, if any, to submit to us. If you choose, however, not to submit your Personal Data, then our ability to consider you as a candidate may be limited.
Please note that we will not grant you direct access to any information systems or databases controlled by us. We will make every effort to assist you in managing and editing the Personal Data that has been provided to us.
You may exercise your rights at any time by sending us an email to the following address: dl_lv_recruit@linecorp.com. Upon verification of your identity, we will respond to your request within a reasonable period of time in accordance with relevant law.

8. Security Control Measures
- LINE Technology Vietnam will take necessary and appropriate measures to control access to Personal Data, to prevent unauthorized access, to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of Personal Data, and to manage Personal Data otherwise safely.
- We also regularly review our management system to ensure that these security control measures are properly implemented.
- All application documents such as resumes/CV, will be kept in a strictly confidential level in accordance with internal regulations, and will be disposed appropriately at the end of the retention period. Please note that application documents will not be returned.
9. Potential unintended consequences that may occur
Even though we have implemented Security Controls Measures, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your Personal Data in certain circumstances, such as:
- Due to security vulnerabilities beyond our control, the system may be hacked, leading to data breaches; or
- If a third party or you yourself disclose Personal Data due to carelessness or fraud; accessing websites/downloading applications containing malware...
In the event that the data storage server is attacked, resulting in the loss or leakage of Personal Data, we will be responsible for notifying the competent authorities for timely handling and informing you in accordance with applicable laws.
Cyberspace is not a secure environment, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that Personal Data shared over cyberspace will always be kept confidential. Within our capacity, we will make every effort to protect your Personal Data.
10. How to Make an Inquiry or Complaint?
If you have any questions or complaints about your Personal Data or our Privacy Policy, please write an email to: dl_lv_recruit@linecorp.com.
Once we receive a complaint, we will commence an investigation as soon as practicable. We may contact you during the process to seek any further clarification if necessary. We may also contact you to inform you of the outcome of the investigation. We will aim to ensure that all questions and concerns are resolved in a timely and appropriate manner.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We will amend our Privacy Policy from time to time for various reasons including to improve our privacy practices and to comply with relevant laws.
In cases where any provisions are not mentioned or differ from the current laws, the applicable provisions shall be those of the prevailing laws at the applicable time.
