Position Summary

We are looking for a data engineer to join our effort in utilizing data to improve our users' experience. LY Corp. is an internet technology company, which provides various services to our users, including our messenger service with more than 170 million active users around the globe.

At LY Corp., a large amount of data is generated everyday, and is stored on our data platform. In total, 1.3 trillion records are sent everyday and 900+ PB of data are accumulated and processed for data utilization. In order to collect, store, and process this enormous amount of data, we utilize a dedicated data center and build and operate a distributed system infrastructure using several thousand servers.

In this position, you will have responsibility in developing, operating and improving systems and processes to process data.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of a global team, managing the distributed systems to process big data e.g. Hadoop ecosystem.
• Build and operate systems that scale easily to efficiently handle ever-increasing data and user needs.
• Understand services, their data, and the stakeholders using the data to design and improve the datasets you maintain
• Develop systems to ensure that our data platform users do not compromise end-user data sovereignty

• Data Pipeline: Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Deequ
• Private Cloud & Platform: Hadoop, Kubernetes, etc.
• Database: MySQL, MongoDB, Iceberg
• CI/CD, Monitoring: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Ansible, Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry
• Tools: GitHub, Swagger, Confluence, Jira, Miro, Slack

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering with Python or JVM languages in a team.
• Strong reading and writing skills in English. (Meetings will be conducted in English or with the assistance of a Vietnamese interpreter.)
• Experience in developing and operating middleware and services using Kubernetes and Docker.

Nice to have:

• Experience in building and/or operating distributed big data systems, such as the Hadoop ecosystem.
• Experience in using and managing scheduler systems, such as Apache Airflow.
• 3+ years of experience in web application development.
